Captain's Log
With two small kids my time for outdoor adventure has diminished. However I'm now trying to find activities that will suit my new lifestyle. This blog will follow my outdoor pursuits in general and this year will focus a lot on my experimentation with sailing.
CYA Basic Certification
So my Spring of sailing courses continues this week with the biggie: the CYA Basic Certification theory portion.
This is three nights of classes from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 pm focused on boating rules and regulations, safety equipment, specific names of sailing boat components, sailing theory, navigation, etc...
I am taking it at the Humber Sailing and Powerboating Centre which is operated by Humber College. This centre is fantastic and it is where I also took my VHF radio course.
The curriculum is pretty interesting but to be honest I am ready to just sail and get these certifications done and finalized.
I write my exam on Thursday night and I will update you as to how I do. The pass line is 70% so wish me luck.
