The French River flows West-South-West from Lake Nipissing in central Ontario, Canada and empties into Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada. The river runs through picturesque boreal landscape and channels that cut through the Canadian Shield. The River was well travelled during the fur trade of early Canada and allowed Voyageurs journeying from the Ottawa River to the East to access the Great Lakes via the Mattawa River and Lake Nipissing. Presently, it is a popular destination for canoeists and kayakers wishing to experience excellent rapids and paddling in a beautiful and semi-remote wilderness setting.
